Facebook said on Monday, it planned to connect Singapore, Indonesia and North America in a project with Google and regional telecommunication companies with two undersea Internet cables which will increase the Internet capacity. Named Echo and Bifrost, those will be the first two cables to go through a new diverse route crossing the Java Sea and they will increase overall subsea capacity in the trans-pacific by about 70%," Facebook Vice President of Network Investments, Kevin Salvadori, told Reuters. He declined to specify the size of the investment, but said it was "a very material investment for us in Southeast Asia According to the executive, the cables directly connect the North America and some of the main parts of Indonesia and will boast the connectivity between. Salvadori said, "Echo" is being built in partnership with Alphabet Google and Indonesia telecommunication companies XL Axiata and should be completed 2023. "Bifrost"

Delhi High court notice on WhatsApp new policy

      The Delhi High court on Wednesday issued a notice to the Centre and the instant messaging app, whatsapp to add an option to opt out the new privacy policy regarding to share users personal data with Facebook. And the petition against the new privacy policy announced by the whatsapp which instructs sharing personal data with Facebook.


The division bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan asked the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and WhatsApp to file their response to the petition by March 19.

From the Centre additional solicitor General Chetan Sharma earlier told the court that the data protection bill is being discussed and whatsApp response has been sought by the central government.
The high court also highlighted that it is not mandatory to download whatsApp on your mobile and it is voluntary. It's our choice.
High court also asked Centre to put on record the Explanation of the notice by whatsApp and questionnaire send by the government for clarification about the new privacy policy.

The petition filled by a Noida resident, Dr. Seema singh along with Delhi resident Meghan and Vikram singh, has been argued that the fissures in law with regard to the data are “quite conspicuous” and a framework to regulate the same is the needed. Social media in recent years has been used by billions of people around the world and millions of Indian are dependent on whatsApp . Therefore information which is generally personal is shared at an enormous level. This information is susceptible to being misused if the social media giant decides to either sell or exploit the information, sensitive to the users, to any third party,” the petition says.
   
      On January 25 whatsapp respond to the government regarding new privacy policy.
